The Third Working Meeting of the Sixth Council of the Fluoroplastic Processing Professional Committee of the China Plastics Association was held in Dongguan on April 15, 2025. Fifteen organizations, including the Beijing Plastics Research Institute Co., Ltd., attended the meeting. The session was chaired by Chen Sheng, head of the expert panel.

Secretary-General Zhu Wulan reported on the work carried out in the first quarter of 2025 and outlined the plans for the next phase. Her briefing focused on key areas, including industry performance, preparations for a fact-finding and exchange mission to Europe, standardization efforts, and the initiation of drafting the “Guiding Opinions on the Development Plan for the Fluoroplastic Processing Industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan Period.” She also presented the forthcoming work agenda, covering industry research, the formulation of the fluoroplastic processing industry’s 15th Five-Year Plan, the 2026 China International Plastics Exhibition, and the advancement of standardization initiatives.

The meeting reviewed and approved two resolutions concerning personnel changes within the Fluoroplastics Processing Specialized Committee of the China Plastics Association: First, the meeting read out the China Plastics Association’s “Reply Approving the Application for an Inter-term Change of Chairperson of the Fluoroplastics Processing Specialized Committee.” In view of the fact that the former chairperson, Comrade Zhou Zuwu, has officially retired, the committee agreed to recommend Comrade Liu Zhewei as the candidate for chairperson of the sixth council of the Fluoroplastics Processing Specialized Committee. Following deliberation at this meeting, the attending delegates unanimously voted to approve Comrade Liu Zhewei as the chairperson of the sixth term. Second, in light of the retirement of Comrade Wu Fangtao, General Manager of Shanghai Shanghua Fluoromaterials Co., Ltd., and the vice‑chairperson of the specialized committee, the meeting unanimously resolved to appoint Comrade Dong Fenghua, Executive Director of Shanghai Shanghua Fluoromaterials Co., Ltd., as the vice‑chairperson of the sixth council of the specialized committee. The above resolutions will be submitted to the third session of the sixth council for review and approval.

Comrade Liu Zhewei, the newly appointed chairman of the board, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the trust placed in him by all, and stated that, going forward, he will conscientiously fulfill his duties, fully leverage the specialized committee’s role as a bridge and link, and strive to shoulder the social responsibility of advancing technological progress and fostering cooperation and exchange within the fluoroplastics industry, thereby continuously driving the sector’s high-quality development.

The vice chairpersons each shared their perspectives on the development of their respective enterprises and industries, engaging in in-depth discussions. Faced with a complex landscape characterized by mounting external pressures and persistent internal challenges, companies have taken proactive measures and responded vigorously, seeking new avenues for growth. Upholding science and technology innovation as the driving force, they continue to ramp up R&D investment, deepen industry–university–research collaboration, and accelerate the domestic substitution of critical core technologies. By closely attuning to market demand and leveraging China’s domestic circulation, they are further expanding applications into new fields, injecting fresh momentum into corporate development. At the same time, they are strengthening corporate governance, speeding up digital, information‑based, and intelligent transformations, and enhancing product quality and reliability. Guided by the principle of pursuing progress while maintaining stability—and using technological innovation and managerial reform as dual engines—these enterprises are advancing high‑quality development across the sector.

Finally, Chen Sheng, head of the expert panel of the Fluoroplastics Processing Specialized Committee of the China Plastics Association, delivered a concluding address. She stated that, in the face of new opportunities and challenges in the industry’s development, she is confident that, under the leadership of the newly appointed chairman, all stakeholders will unite and pool their efforts to deepen industry‑wide services, further enhance the platform for industry exchange, and strive to usher in a new phase of high‑quality development for the fluoroplastics processing sector.
