From April 22 to 28, 2025, a 15-member delegation of Chinese fluoroplastic processing enterprises, led by Wang Zhanjie, Chairman of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association, and Zhu Wulan, Secretary-General of the Fluoroplastic Processing Specialized Committee, traveled to Europe for a fact-finding and exchange mission. The delegation visited the Italian Association of Plastics and Rubber Processing Machinery Manufacturers (AMAPLAST), as well as Italy’s ITAflon, FLUORSEALS, and GS4 PLASTIC, and Germany’s GTS GmbH. They toured the companies’ facilities and held roundtable discussions, aiming to deepen international cooperation and jointly inject strong momentum into the innovation, upgrading, and sustainable development of the fluoroplastic industry.
The delegation’s first stop was the Italian Association of Plastics and Rubber Processing Machinery Manufacturers (AMAPLAST), where they were warmly received by General Manager Mario Maggiani. The two sides engaged in an in-depth discussion on pressing issues facing the plastics industry, avenues for cooperation, and green, sustainable development. Chairman Wang Zhanjie stated that, in recent years, the China Plastics Processing Industry Association has signed framework agreements and memoranda of understanding with nearly 20 international and national associations and institutions, expressing his hope that, in the future, it will further strengthen collaboration with AMAPLAST to jointly elevate exchanges and cooperation between the plastics value chains of China and Italy to a new level.
The Bergamo region of Italy is Europe’s largest production hub for PTFE semi-finished and finished products, and its market for fluoroplastic compounds is also highly developed. The delegation visited ITAflon, FLUORSEALS, and GS4 PLASTIC in succession. Mirko Zanga, Chairman of ITAflon; Fabio Saladini, General Manager of FLUORSEALS; and Dr. Giovanni Sonzogni, General Manager of GS4 PLASTIC, each led their teams in extending a warm welcome. The Chinese and Italian sides held discussions and exchanges, and the delegation toured the companies’ production workshops and laboratories.
ITAflon specializes in the compounding and pelletizing of fluoropolymer resins, serving customers worldwide. The company offers more than 300 grades of PTFE‑based compounded materials, ranging from standard formulations to custom‑designed innovative solutions, thereby meeting the diverse production needs of various industries.
FLUORSEALS, comprising FLUORSEALS, ciflon, flon gaskets, and fluorone subsidiaries, specializes in the production of semi-finished and finished fluoroplastic products. It is Italy’s largest manufacturer of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) products, with applications spanning a wide range of industries, including chemical processing, electronics, machinery, food, healthcare, construction, automotive, and aerospace. The company provides customers with high‑standard fluoroplastic product solutions.
GS4 PLASTIC specializes in the research, development, and production of polymer‑modified materials. Driven by technological innovation, the company is committed to advancing the use of mechanically and chemically recycled polymers. Through continuous process and technology advancements, it plays a leading role in the circular economy, providing customers with sustainable solutions.
Following their visit to Italy, the delegation traveled to Germany and paid a courtesy call on GTS GmbH, where they were warmly received by Mr. Patrick Häge, the Sales Director. GTS GmbH specializes in high-performance engineering‑plastic sealing solutions and precision PTFE component machining, operating digital production lines and fully equipped testing laboratories to ensure its products meet stringent quality standards. Its products are primarily used for sealing applications in chemical pumps and valves, compressors, aerospace actuators, the food industry, and the semiconductor sector, with its PTFE spring‑energized seals already holding a leading position in the German market.
Through site visits and exchanges, the delegation not only gained insights into cutting-edge technologies, management practices, and innovative approaches in Europe’s fluoroplastics processing sector, but also showcased the development of China’s fluoroplastics industry to international peers. This effort has built a vital bridge for deepening international cooperation, fostering technology sharing, and achieving mutually beneficial market outcomes, thereby contributing positively and profoundly to the coordinated development of the global fluoroplastics processing industry.
